You will be hosted in the guesthouse or the lodge, in a double room, or most often, in a twin room with two separate beds. Single rooms are not available at guesthouses and lodges except during the off-season. Most are equipped with electricity and a large lounge for the noon meal or dinner in the evening. The shower and toilet are often outside. The hot showers are generally paid. According to the regions, the lodges have separate comforts. Certain lodges are very well equipped with hot water, a bathroom, and electricity, but this is not the case for all of them.

According to the region, the comfort of the local accommodation is variable. In the east of Nepal, the inhabitants have large houses of 2 or 3 floors, but without rooms, so you will be hosted in the large main room. In the north and west of Nepal, the houses are smaller but with rooms. In the houses in the village, there is no bathroom; the shower and toilet (WC) are on the outside. In the absence of a bathroom, the family will offer you hot water in a basin for your toilet.

For trekking, hiking, and expeditions requiring accommodation under a tent, we provide a tent for two people with a foam mattress for your comfort.

Individual rooms exist only in the hotels in the city, subject to availability. It is not possible to book a single room in a guesthouse, lodge, or directly with the inhabitant.

For the group formed the allocation of rooms, in a hotel, in a guest house or lodge is carried out according to the following logic:

(A) A single woman with another woman

(B) A man with one other HOM

Nepal is a developing country, and the quality of the roads may be random and precarious. The roadways are heavily damaged during the monsoon rains, causing landslides or falls of stone, which entail frequent traffic congestion. The Kathmandu valley is particularly affected by the increase in road traffic. The code of the road being nonexistent and the busy traffic condition, it is strongly recommended not to self-drive.

The terrestrial movements are carried out by private transport, tourist buses, local transport, jeeps, buses, minibusses, or airplanes. The details are listed under “Cost Includes & Excludes.”

For some domestic transport, we use the airway, with the companies Yeti Airlines, Tara Airlines, Buddha Air, and Simrik Air. Generally, they work with small aircraft from 15 to 18 places.

Flights in the mountains are subject to weather conditions. It may sometimes happen that your flight gets canceled due to bad weather. In this case, the company will reschedule your flight for the next day. If there is no availability, in this case, you will be offered a route by helicopter if you want it. The difference in the cost of travel will be requested on the spot.

For your information, the European Commission has included all Nepalese companies on the black list of companies banned from flying within the European Union. To this day, no Nepalese company is not flying in Europe.

Note: Lukla Flights during high season are departing and returning to Ramechhap instead of Kathmandu due to ongoing upgrades at Kathmandu Airport. Its about a 4 hour drive to Ramechhap.

All our guides (mountains, high- altitude, and city) are accredited professionals by the Nepalese government and have completed training at the Nepal Academy of Tourism & Hotel Management (NATHM). Your guide is responsible for your safety and the safety of the group and its team. Therefore, respect and follow the instructions, tips, and notes that it emits to the letter.

Our tours, trekking, or expedition are carried out in the group. It must be clear to everyone that the group’s interests will be prioritized over an individual’s interests. For security reasons or climate, all our guides are allowed to modify the circuit, abandon the course, or shipment without justification. In this case, it does not give rise to any compensation.

Our porters are used to trekking at medium and high altitudes and come mainly from the east and the north of Nepal. The profession of the bearer is seasonal work, and then they return home to care for their farm and work in the fields. The young students are also becoming more interested in this profession in order to be able to finance their studies. Your porters are actively involved in the success of your trip; please do not hesitate to contact them; they will be delighted to share these small moments of sharing. Sometimes the lodges or guesthouses do not have enough room for everyone. In this case, your porters will stay in a neighboring house. During the Trek Under Tent, they will be staying with the inhabitants or under a large tent of cuisine altogether.

Porters deliver your luggage during the trek, and you only carry what you need for the day (bring a small backpack of 30 to 40 liters).

For porter baggage, bring a sports bag or hiking backpack of 60 to 70 liters; avoid the suitcase with wheels, especially.

In Nepal, the weight of baggage for a trek, hike, or expedition is regulated. For the trek, you are allowed to bring a maximum of 12 kg per person and up to 18 kg per person for an expedition of 6000 m. Nepal Authentic Trek will provide one porter for two trekkers.

If your trip includes full-board: In the morning, breakfast consists of Nepalese bread, chapatis, cereals, omelets, and porridge, accompanied by butter, jam, and tea or coffee. Lunch is usually served around noon or one o’clock, depending on the day. For dinner in the evening, a hot meal is served. During the days of long steps (the passage of Col), a picnic cold is expected. For more details, please see your day-by-day program.

In Nepal, the national dish is the Dhalbhat. This dish consists of white rice, lentils, vegetables, and potatoes.

If you book a full-board trip: You will receive three times hot drinks as well as “breakfast, lunch, and dinner.” In the morning, you will be served tea or coffee. Alcoholic beverages and soft drinks are at your charge. In lodges and guesthouses, beer, soft drinks, and mineral water are available. The tap water being unfit for consumption in all the countries, it must be treated essential foresaw of pellets of purification and a bottle of 1 to 1.5 liters.

Drinking water: It is better to use water purification drops and tablets, which you can either bring from your own country or buy in Kathmandu. Nepal Authentic Treks also provides water purifier pills.

If you stay in the lodge or the guest house during the trek, there is the possibility that a hot shower could cost between 1 to 2 USD per shower, but a cold shower is free of charge.  If your trek is carried out in a tent, your team will serve you hot water every morning and evening in a basin for your toilet. At the inhabitants, the shower room and WC are on the outside.

On your arrival in Kathmandu (Tribhuvan International Airport), your guide will meet you at the exit with a panel on behalf of the Agency Nepal Authentic treks and Expedition indicating your name. In order to organize your trip better, please provide us with the information below:

(1) Your Date and Time of Arrival

(2) The name of your airlines

(3) The number of your flight

(A) We will guarantee all our tour departures with a minimum of 2 people. A small group fee will apply for groups of less than two people.

An estimate of about $100 or €100 per participant should be sufficient (outside meals to Kathmandu and Pokhara, and purchases of souvenirs).

In tourism in Nepal gratuities are traditionally expected, the activity being seasonal, guides, porters and drivers work only a few months in the year.

In Patan and Kathmandu, there are mills for prayers, jewelry, and precious stones, especially in the district of Durbar Marg, opposite the Royal Palace. In Bhaktapur, behind the Palace, or in Kathmandu near Durbar Square, Boudhanath, you can find several shops selling religious paintings (Thankas), tissues, and shawls. Thamel, the tourist district, offers many clothing shops, musical instruments, shawls, scarves, carpets, and khukuris (Nepalese traditional curved knives).

In Nepal, most of the circuits of trekking occur in altitude. The circuits having at least one night or more in more than 3 500 m of altitude are qualified of trekking in High Mountain. This altitude can generate the symptom of acute mountain sickness. The treatment to always apply is to descent (go back) as quickly as possible to a lower altitude.

Acute mountain sickness (AMS) is a syndrome of suffering, linked to a rise too fast in high altitude, at the absence of acclimation and to a personal sensitivity more or less important. Its symptoms are headache, nausea and vomiting, insomnia, general fatigue, tiredness, dizziness, balance disorder, dyspnoea and of the loss of appetite.

It is therefore a frequent disease affecting people in good health but exposed to an extreme environment of high altitude. Its incidence is variable, but increases very rapidly with altitude; it would be 15% to 2 000 meters of altitude and 60% to 4 000 meters.

This evil usually appears in the 4 to 12 hours following the arrival in altitude: it is regressing with the acclimation and disappears immediately to the descent.

The project of the Nepalese NGO “Nepalese Women and Children Service Society (NWCSS)” was started in 2002 by a group of women, which takes 25 most disadvantaged children (street children, children from lower castes, orphans, deprived children).

Since the establishment of our company, each person who travels with Nepal Authentic Trek, at their travel price of 10 USD, will be donated directly to the association. NWCSS is also looking for godfathers and godmothers for the children of Nepal; you can sponsor a child from 15 USD per month, which allows them to pay for their school and food.
